Import Freight into Vietnam

You buy overseas and the number that matters is the landed cost, not the ocean rate. Protrans collects at origin, clears at the port and delivers to your plant, with duty calculated before the vessel berths.

Know the Landed Cost Before the Vessel Berths

Machinery, raw materials, components. A declaration held at the port stops your line, and a duty surprise wrecks the costing you already gave your board.

  • An agent at the load portCargo collected from your supplier abroad and shipped on your terms, so you control the routing instead of the seller.
  • Duty worked out up frontHS code checked, import duty and VAT calculated before arrival, so the landed cost is known while you can still act on it.
  • Delivered to your plantCleared at Cat Lai, Hai Phong or Noi Bai and trucked to the factory or warehouse, all 63 provinces.
  • Cargo insured on your termsICC A, B or C matched to the Incoterm you bought on, claims handled by Protrans rather than left to you.

What Protrans Handles on Import

From the supplier warehouse abroad to your receiving dock in Vietnam.

Collection and consolidation

Cargo picked up from one or several suppliers abroad and consolidated before shipping.

Storage and delivery

Bonded or general storage if you are not ready, then delivery on your schedule.

Where Vietnamese Importers Buy Most

Different origins fail in different ways, so each one is booked differently.

China and intra-Asia

Short transit, high frequency. The risk is not the sailing, it is the paperwork arriving late and the container sitting on demurrage.

Europe

Machinery and components, often out of gauge. Booking and lashing get checked before the cargo leaves the supplier.

North America

Longer transit and fewer sailings, so a missed cut-off costs a fortnight rather than a few days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you tell me the duty before I place the order?

Yes. Send the HS code or a product description and the origin country. We come back with duty, VAT and any preferential rate you can claim under an FTA.

My supplier wants to sell CIF. Should I buy FOB instead?

Buying FOB puts the routing in your hands and lets you see the freight cost instead of having it buried in the goods price. We can quote both so you can compare properly.

What if the shipment is held for inspection?

Our customs team handles the inspection on site and keeps you updated on the portal. Most holds are document mismatches we catch before filing.

Do you deliver outside Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi?

Yes. Inland trucking covers all 63 provinces, including cross-border moves to Laos and Cambodia.
